A day's hike
Duration: 6 hours
As this hike takes so long, it is better to start out early. From the main square, we go to the Gleif Church and then in about 20 mins reach the hotel Steinegger.
From here we go along path 7 in a southwesterly direction and up the Matschatscher Mountain. Just further south, you can see the idyllically situated Matschatsch Castle. The start of the Eppaner Höhenweg is in bend number 6, and is the path 9.
In three hours we reach Buchwald and then go on to Kreuzstein, past Freudenstein Castle and back down to St Michael.
