Montan

Montan the house is situated in Kreuzsteinstrasse 7, just above the centre of the Eppan/Berg.
History: this house is first mentioned in the 14th century when the grounds were bought by Georg von Mantani (Georgius de Mantanea). In the 18th century it changed hands and was later divided into three parts. Family Ausserer bought the whole complex in 1830 and a salesman from Bozen rented the farm. Architectural style: as the walls are not plastered, it is easy to recognize the various different building styles of the eras. Two towers that were probably built in the 13th century were united by a middle building many years later and now make up the whole house. The whole building is covered with a hipped roof. Peculiarities: arched windows with sand stone frames, and two sundials from the late Middle Ages. You can also find examples of late Gothic, the Renaissance (the time of renovation) and Baroque (stove). Walking: Eppan/Berg is well known for walking. Why not take a walk to Perdonig and Gaid, or to Schloss Korb or Boymont, just some of the many possibilities available.
