Kreuzweghof

Kreuzweghof (Pillhof): if you travel towards Bozen below Schloss Warth and the ruin Altenburg, you will see the Kreuzweghof (commonly called Pillhof) just before the crossroads to Frangart.

History: first mentioned in 1610, it was owned by the von Arz family. The building was erected in the 16th century and extended in the 17th century. The main object of the house was to ensure that the aristocrats could live in pleasant surroundings. In 1878 Johann Klotz took over the building (inscription above the door) and renovated it yet again. Family Oberrauch took over the house in 1933 and still run it today. Architectural style: the main building is from the late Middle Ages and had a sundial added to the south facing wall that depicts biblical scenes. A rather awkward oriel can be seen on the southwest corner. The entrance is vaulted and leads into a walled staircase. Two coats of arms can be found on the parapet, from the family Arz on the right and the family Arz zu Wasegg on the left. Behind you can see a fresco from 1564 and there are further rests of frescoes in a hallway. Pillhof is inhabited and cannot be visited.
