Wine Tips: Discover the village you are staying at with a visit to a winery.
Nearly all wineries offer guided tours and wine tasting. Special tip for all wine lovers are the Wine Culture Weeks in St. Pauls. Visitors can wander through the lanes and look in the windows, doorways, and oriels and get a picture of the tradition, culture and variety of this country. There is an exhibition of old wine tools and a small wine museum. The Historical South Tyrolean Wine Museum is situated in Kaltern, just 5 km drive away. The museum houses exhibits, which tell the story of the history of wine making. In the village Eppan, there are several interesting wine bars and wine shops, for example the “Kleine Weingallerie” at the Niedermayr Winery. Here you cannot only taste the wines, but also buy some to take home with you. Having bought your favourite wine, it is important to serve it at the right temperature. Dessert wines 5-6 degrees, sparkling wines 6-8 degrees white wines 8-10 degrees, rose 10-12 degrees, light red wines 12-14 degrees, full bodied red wines 14-1 degrees and heavy red wines 16-18 degrees.
