South Tyrolean top-quality wines enjoy world-wide renown and have won numerous awards.

South Tyrol is one of the oldest wine-growing regions in the German-speaking part of Europe. Over 20 grape varieties are used in producing top quality red and white wines. The three native grape varieties are Vernatsch, Lagrein and Gewürztraminer. 

Different soils, a special Mediterranean climate and the extensive experience of the wine growers and vintners are what make South Tyrolean wines so unique. The DOC regulations (Italian system of appellation) guarantee the origin and characteristic traits of South Tyrolean wines.
