Sporting community Eppan

Eppan is no ordinary municipality. It is a veritable sporting community! No fewer than 37 sports clubs are based here, actively shaping the community in Eppan.
Sports enthusiasts in Eppan get a real run for their money, with numerous facilities and sites dedicated to a wide range of sports. The Rungg | Eppan sport zone in which the DFB team plans to train in May 2017 features state-of-the-art football pitches and tennis courts. The newly renovated Eppan Golf Club, “The Blue Monster”, proudly presents a sophisticated 9-hole course in Unterrain | Eppan. In St. Michael | Eppan, enthusiasts will find an ice-skating rink, a shooting range and a climbing hall.
And Eppan can also boast impressive testimonials: the extremely talented sports marksman and two-time Olympic medallist Niccolò Campriani lives here with his partner, Petra Zublasing, who is also world champion in shooting sport. Eva Lechner, who has won 17 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 8 bronze medals in cycle sport at Italian, European and world championships, is another of the better known athletes in the municipality. The ice hockey team HC Eppan and the handball team “Eppan Löwen” (The Eppan Lions) have also done much to boost Eppan’s popularity amongst athletes and fans. Teams from a range of disciplines regularly come to South Tyrol to prepare for games. Just recently, Eppan was able to welcome the professional handball team FRISCH AUF! Göppingen to a training camp.
Eppan also has a range of sporting activities on offer for holidaymakers. No matter what your preference or level of ability, Eppan has something to offer – from long walks along the Eppan mountain path to the three castles, to walks alongside the Montiggler Lakes, to invigorating cycle tours through meadows and woods. After a physically active day, the two lakes in the Montiggler Forest are perfect for cooling down with a swim.
