With its origins in 19th Century northern Germany, the wreath’s circular shape was taken to symbolize eternity, with the candle representing life, hope and the divine arrival. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Bolzano Christmas Market, a twenty-two-metrewide Advent wreath adorns piazza Walther. Yet it’s not only eye-catching: the fir branches
it’s made from will exude its resinous arboreal scent, lending the piazza the perfume so typical of the forest at Christmas. Make sure to take a look!
