The guardians of the hiking trails

There are 200 kilometres of hiking trails and 258 signposts in the natural paradise of Appiano alone. Herbert Ortler knows them all. As a guide, the integrity of paths, trails, paths and roads is a matter close to his heart.

Nomen est omen, they say. So it is no accident that Herbert Ortler is an enthusiastic hiker and mountaineer. The Ortler is South Tyrol's highest mountain, at 3905 meters altitude. Once a year it may also be a three thousand meter peak for the farmer from Berg | Appiano. But apart from that, he does not want to draw the attention of nature lovers to meters in altitude, but to the special features on the left and right of the path.

200 kilometers of hiking trails: This corresponds to the distance from Appiano to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Hiking enthusiasts can look forward to a lot of variety during their holiday in Appiano. And until then you can already start dreaming now.

In the new Eppan magazine you will find an exciting interview with our guide Herbert Ortler. Questions like "where is the difference between signpost and markings" or "what type of stone you have under your feet when hiking in Appiano" are answered.
Prepare yourself for your coming holiday in Appiano and choose the perfect hike for you.
Herbert Ortler has summarized three suggestions of different nature for you.
Whether leisurely around the Montiggler lakes or on historical traces to the castles in Appiano. For families, sport lovers or those who enjoy the view. The hiking trails of Appiano look forward to welcome you!
