Unterrain | Eppan

Surrounded by apple orchards and vineyards, a little lower than the rest of Überetsch, directly on the South Tyrolean Wine Road lies idyllic Unterrain | Eppan, the fraction below the Gantkofel. Especially between early spring and the end of the harvest season, there is a lot of activity.

The apple blossom in April makes the whole area look like it is covered in snow and the sweet scent of the blossoms accompanies every walk or excursion by bike. The plain of the Etsch Valley, where Unterrain | Eppan is located, offers ideal conditions to set out on a new bike tour every day, e.g. to Meran, to the Vinschgau Valley or to the South Tyrolean Unterland. The village is dominated by the small church, which was dedicated to St. Nicholas in 1512. He is the protector of traders and travellers, and since a customs station was located here in earlier times, this patron saint was deliberately chosen. Diagonally opposite, on the other side of the road, is another historic building with a very special charm, the Ansitz Hungerhausen. Its facade has been preserved and baroque oriels and round and pointed arch entrances to the cellars adorn the facades.

A special highlight since summer 2015 is the 9-hole golf course "The Blue Monster" in Unterrain | Eppan. As the name already suggests, it has many water areas, which on the one hand present a challenge for all golfers and on the other hand integrate very well into the landscape. The golf course is not only strategically well located in the heart of South Tyrol, it also offers a wonderful view of the fantastic South Tyrolean mountains. Teeing off in the middle of a sea of apple trees is also a real treat. The "Blue Monster" in Unterrain | Eppan is suitable both for players with a higher handicap, due to the rather wide fairway with evasion possibilities, and for experienced players who see the incentive in the "risk-reward philosophy".

Situated near Bozen, the hotels, guesthouses and farms of Unterrain | Eppan are the ideal starting point for excursions in the near and far surroundings. Cycling tours along the Etsch river, a visit to the MMM Firman, the Messner Mountain Museum in Sigmundskron Castle and shopping tours in the provincial capital will leave you wanting more.
