Wings for Life

World Run

The Wings for Life World Run is a truly unique and global race for both runners and wheelchair participants. Instead of a finish line, competitors race side by side to keep ahead of the Virtual Catcher Car. On May 10, 2026 Wings for Life World Run participants in Italy can also run together in Eppan. Meet up with your friends, download the Wings for Life World Run App and join all the other people running until the Virtual Catcher Car catches you of course. The race starts at exactly 1 pm. The Virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start at 14 km/h and steadily increases its speed until the last athletes have been caught. 100% of all donations and the entry fees go directly into spinal cord research projects.

Track

Our App Run starts at the parking area in front of  Lido Monticolo (Parcheggio Lido Monticolo). From there, the route follows a scenic counter-clockwise loop around both lakes – the large and the small Lago di Monticolo (Laghi di Monticolo), located in the Monticolo forest area in Alto Adige, Italy. The course mainly runs on well-maintained forest roads, with a short section of paved path, offering a natural and varied running experience. Each loop is approximately 3.6 km long with around 50 m of elevation gain, making it suitable for repeated laps at an individual pace. Participants can run as many laps as they like while the Wings for Life World Run App tracks distance and progress against the virtual Catcher Car.

For those arriving by car, parking is available either at the Parcheggio lago grande di Monticolo or directly at the Lido Monticolo car park near the start. A bus stop is located right next to the start area, and there is also space to park bicycles nearby. Please be mindful of other trail users, respect the natural surroundings and enjoy the unique setting around both lakes.
