Winter in Eppan
Ice skating
Montiggl Lakes
The ultimate nature experience. Ice skating on frozen lakes is at your own risk and is a highlight for all nature lovers. Ice skating on the large and small Montiggler lakes is an unforgettable nature experience, but takes place under different conditions than in a controlled ice rink.
-
Access at your own risk: The frozen surfaces of the lakes are not officially monitored or cleared for use. Stepping onto the ice is done entirely at your own risk at all times.
-
Check ice thickness yourself: The thickness and quality of the ice can vary significantly—the ice is often thinner near inlets, under bridges, or close to reed beds.
-
Never go onto the ice alone: If possible, do not go out onto the frozen lake alone and always keep a close watch on children.
-
Monitor weather conditions: Sudden rises in temperature or strong sunlight can compromise the stability of the ice within a very short period of time.
